Talkeetna Denali View Lodge and Cabins – Feel right at home under Denali

If you’re looking for a small, locally owned place to stay near everything in Talkeetna and away from it all then Talkeetna Denali View Lodge and Cabins is the place for you.

This idyllic inn has just a few rooms, a home cooked breakfast, a hot tub with a view of Denali and a grill and firepit available for you to use with hosts who are life long Alaskans and have the warm low key hospitality that is uniquely Alaskan.

The deck wraps around the back and the hot tub is just to the left of the main lodge. Cabins are directly behind me as I’m taking the photo.

I’m a part time tour director in Alaska, so I spend a lot of time with my guests in big anonymous mediocre expensive hotels in the same places everyone else is going – so when I’m creating my podcast and articles here on Top Left Adventures, I love to share places that are off the beaten track or too small to accommodate big groups – like Talkeetna Denali View Lodge which is much more like staying in the home a friend than an anonymous hotel or vacation rental with lots of rules and chores.

I recommend booking directly with Dawn on their website. Since I visited on an overcast summer day I am very grateful to Dawn for sharing some photos of the amazing view and winter!

Where is Talkeetna Denali View Lodge?

Talkeetna Denali View Lodge is located on the Talkeetna Spur Road about 10-15 minutes from the town of Talkeetna.

Do I need a car to get there?

Yes, you will need a car to stay here – it is too far to walk from downtown Talkeetna and the train depot (10-15 minute drive) and Talkeetna doesn’t have ride shares.

When can I stay at Talkeetna Denali View Lodge?

All year! This beautiful location is wonderful and welcomes guests all year long. Talkeetna is a great place for looking for the northern lights, dog sledding and all the other winter adventures you can have in Alaska. K2 Aviation offers their flightseeing tours of Denali year round and winter visitors have a better chance of actually seeing the mountain and having a clear day.

What are the rooms and cabins at the Lodge like?

The rooms and cabins at Talkeetna Denali View Lodge are beautiful, homey and comfortable with gorgeous handmade log furniture. You’ll have a super comfy bed, your own private bathroom and coffee along with room to put your luggage (which doesn’t always happen in Alaska!).

The cabins are just across the parking area and are another great option. You’ll have access to all the common spaces and amenities of the main lodge but be a bit separated and they’re adorable.

What’s included at Talkeetna Denali View Lodge?

The lodge includes a home made breakfast that has lots of continental options like fruit, yogurt, cheese, hard boiled eggs and every day they have a home made hot breakfast too. It’s absolutely delicious.

In addition you’re welcome to use the hot tub grill, firepit and deck outside with the incredible view as well as the common spaces inside the lodge. Each room in the lodge has a private bathroom in the room as well.

Is there WiFi or Cell Service?

Depending on your cell carrier you might have good service or ok service but you’ll be all set with their Starlink WiFi.

What is there to do in Talkeetna?

Talkeetna is a wonderful and totally overlooked stop by most visitors who are rushing to Denali National Park. Denali is awesome but don’t miss out on this wonderful town, either for a stopover for the night or stay a week and soak up the quiet and quirky vibe.

Talkeetna is home to the Denali National Park climbing rangers and an amazing place to see incredible views of Denali (better than inside the park along the park road) as well as soak up the funky vibe, live music, delicious food and fun shops. It’s also an amazing place to do a flightseeing tour into Denali National Park.

Wheelchair accessibility

There are a couple stairs to get to the main lodge with one guest room on that floor and the cabins have a short step to get to them. Most guest rooms in the main lodge are on the second floor so make sure to book a cabin or first floor room. I recommend getting in touch with Dawn and letting her know your mobility needs and she’ll help you determine if it will work for you and ensure you have what you need if at all possible.
